2008 New York Jets: Ready for Takeoff

By Tyson Rauch

Well Jets fans training camp is over as is the preseason and it is time for the 2008 NFL season. On tap for week one is the divisional rival Miami Dolphins with former quarterback Chad Pennington leading the way.

Many in the media will make this game all about Brett Favre vs. Chad, but this game will be won in the trenches. The battles at the line of scrimmage will be vital to each team’s success especially with shaky weather being predicted. Gang Green with the edge on talent should be able to win the battles on both sides of the ball, control the game and walk away with a convincing victory; Prediction 27-10.

This game is crucial for the Jets with difficult match ups against the Patriots and Chargers to follow. The belief here is that the Jets need to be 2-2 after 4 weeks of football heading into their bye week. At the point they can look back at the first quarter of the season, adjust their schemes, correct their mistakes and prepare their strategies for the rest of the season.

Season Prediction : 10-6 earning a wildcard playoff berth. From there anything can happen ?

Pro Bowl Player Predictions: Kerry Rhodes, Alan Faneca, Nick Mangold, David Harris, Kris Jenkins

Parting Shots
• It has been a long time since this fan base has been excited about a season, especially with a Hall of Fame qb leading the way. Lets give this guy a chance to get acclimated to the team and coaching. There could be some road bumps early, lets not act like typical fans and start bitching and moaning. This goes for the rest of the personnel moves as well. For once do not be that “typical” Jets fan.
