Jets Cut Tony Richardson

The 53 man roster was set but now the Jets have made another move.   As per Adam Schfter on Twitter, the Jets have released Tony Richardson.  For those who are watching Hard Knocks on HBO you know that Rex Ryan has been vocal about keeping Richardson.  He is a leader on this team and is looked up to because of his professionalism.

The emergence of rookie John Conner apparently has the Jets feeling that they can move on without Richardson.   Here is a great post from our forums:

So, we have the #1 running game and, admittedly, we run the ball more than any other team, but at the end of the day we still have the #1 running game. So, we cut our top rusher, our run blocking left guard and our fullback…..and this is not supposed to negatively impact the ground game?

You can read more about his move and comment here.  The Jets (Woody Johnson) are really going to great lengths to save a few dollars.  They have targeted multiple veteran minimum contracts.  That is a cause for concern.  Losing good locker room guys over veteran minimum contracts is a very dangerous road.
