Jets Waive Payne; Reportedly Sign K Josh Brown

The New York Jets sent out a press release stating that they have waived WR Logan Payne, which appears below.  Payne became expandable as the Jets increased the talent level at WR (Chaz Schilens, Stephen Hill).  There are reports stating that the Jets did this to sign Kicker Josh Brown. Brown was recently waived by the Rams and would compete for a starting job against Nick Folk.

The New York Jets have waived WR Logan Payne.  The announcement was made by General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Payne (WR/6-2/205/Minnesota/Lutz, FL) originally joined the Jets as a member of the practice squad (10/09/10). He was inactive for the first six games of the 2011 season with a wrist injury on was placed on injured reserve (10/22/11). Prior to joining the Jets, Payne had spent time on the practice squads of the Minnesota Vikings (2010), Detroit Lions (2009), Kansas City Chiefs (2009) and Seattle Seahawks (2007) after entering the league as an undrafted free agent with Seattle in 2007. In his career, he has played in two games, both starts, collecting three receptions for 39 yards.
