PFT: Jets Cut Patterson

New York Jets

The saga surrounding NY Jets cornerback Dimitri Patterson seems to have come to an end. ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that the Jets have released Dimitri Patterson.

Patterson had been suspended for the preseason after going AWOL. He then told ESPN that he didn’t go AWOL.

“As it relates to my whereabouts and me missing for 48 hours without being seen or heard from me or my representative is completely false,” Patterson said Thursday in a statement to ESPN. “My agent reached out to the Jets organization multiple times several hours prior to Friday night’s game. My commitment to the Jets organization and to my teammates has never been an issue and never will be an issue.”

Apparently, the Jets disagree with that statement. The team is hurting at cornerback, so if there was any way to salvage this situation that is what they would have done.
