WOW! Is this guy really that good? I like the Yankees, but they can't beat this team.. Not with a horse like Beckett.. From what I read it sounds like hes pretty much unhittabale, and has the best stuff in the game..

Mike Lupica said he was the ideal pitcher to aquire, and the Yankees should've traded their farm for him..

josh beckett has never pitched 200 innings a season, its very risky to declare him the next Jesus

with that said, I would've traded for him

Just dont expect Pedro-esqe numbers

Ill be suprised if he can stay healthy for a full season.

With that said...I believe he has benifited from missing so many games with those blisters. He has to have saved some miles on his arm missing all those starts.

I would have pulled the trigger too but he's injury prone.

Mike Lupica is definetly the biggest yankee hating little punk in the ny press, I cannot stand to see him on TV. Guy has no credibility in my eyes.

This thread is blasphemy! Josh Beckett wears number 21...he is obviously gonna be the next Roger Clemens for 10 years!

I'm no lupica fan, but you can't deny this trade is good. He's a solid SP. Period. Yes he has had some DL trips, but I think he is worth the risk. Hanley ramirez would be fighting for a job on this Sox team for years.

It's a great move.

Now watch the Sox parlay this move with Manny for Delgado and resign Damon to SOLIDIFY the 06 Red Sox team. 8)

We dont need to approve this trade, its one of those no brainers that deserves universal approvement.

Unless of course youre a miserable Yankee fan who is still smarting from the 2003 World Series, when Josh Beckett threw you down a flight of stairs!

Globe reports Sox still reviewing MRI's on Beckett's shoulder before agreeing to deal.

I doubt it amounts to anything but possibly the Sox are angling to get the Marlins to pick up some of Lowell's contract.

Know how many times he's been on the DL since the 2003 World Series?

Count along with me, but I warn you, this might take awhile

1 - 2 -3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9

Whoa nelly!

I have him at 11 trips to the DL in the past 5 seasons., at any league level.

Josh Beckett tossed six scoreless innings and struck out seven to defeat the Devil Rays on Thursday night.
Mike Timlin spoiled the shutout in the eighth, but the Red Sox won 4-1. Beckett has won each of his last four starts and is currently 7-1 with a 3.80 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP.

Now, how many times were they for blisters, and not a serious injury?

What kind of pole smoker goes on the DL for a finger blister more than once?

Actually, he probably would be the starting SS right about now. Check out the NL hitting leaders.

GJH -

Yet, his starts have increased every year from 4 to 21 to 23 to 26 to 29.

He just turned 26.

This was a great move by the Sox. A pitcher just entering his prime. An 26yo ace with playoff and WS experience that you can build your rotation around for the next 6-10 years.
