In a few short days, we will all be treated to the world champion Boston Red Sox receiving their World Series rings in front of the visting New York Yankees at historic Fenway Park. It will no doubt be the most horrifying memory for many Yankee fans.

As of right now, which memory is the worst:

-Raul Mondesi dropping that fly ball in Anaheim in 2002?

-Getting no-hit by 6 AAA level scrubs in Houston in 2003?

-In short: Indians 22, Yankees 0

-or Mariano Rivera, the best closer in the game EVER, coming out to "Enter Sandman" in the 9th inning of a lopsided yet very historic 10-3 loss in game 7 of the 2004 ALCS???

I agree.

The Yanks will dominate this year until they run into a buzzsaw from Chicago in the World Series.

That 1 world series title means nothing unless they make it bigger than it was...Talking down the Yankees till the season starts is just another way to prolong the inevitable...You will be 1 and done and nobody will remember anybody who was on that sux team in 20 years.

Enjoy it now, talk it up and blow it out of proportion...Cuz next year you will beat yourselves, the Yankees fans are going to enjoy watching that mess implode.

I wonder if you'd have even mentioned this had Wade Miller started the game.

At least use all the history if your going to use a statement like that. Otherwise I can put up something like:

1901-1918; 2001- 7 championships
1901-1918; 2001- 0 championships.

The Yanks still have the history and always will. However, the Sox have a little piece of modern history they can throw in the faces of Yankees fan and they have to deal with it..

What about game 7 of the 2001 series? After some epic comeback wins, we blow the lead in game seven to the Diamondbacks.

As for this year, I think Boston will still be hung over from 2004. The Yanks have the eye of the tiger back this year. watch out.

You know what, as a long time Yankee fan, I have to be honest, it really doesn't bother me all that much. Maybe because I've been around so many accomplishments by great Yankee teams, I really don't know. But, in any event, it will mean more to a Sox fan who havn't tasted championships in their life time...I say, enjoy it, while you can.

Let me ask you this, do you really think you'll be alive to see another WS title? Odds are not in your favor.

The answer to your question is Yes.

One, the Sox will always be one of the big market teams and the current FO have a system they want implemented. An ALCS loss and WS later, I will buy off on any kool aid they serve.

I would have to say the most emabarrassing moment has to got to be being up 3 games to 0 on an obviously inferior team like the 2004 Red Sox and not being able to close the door on those idiots.

Losing meaningless games in the miidle of the year to Cleveland and Houston are barely a blip on the radar. I didn't know Roy Oswalt, Billy Wagner and Octavio Dotel were Triple AAA pitchers.

Here's to a great 2005, may all of the Patriots suffer strokes, Schilling's ankle never heal and he's forced to retire, Wells get beat up by a girl in a diner at 3 o'clock in the morning, Johnny Damon's hair get caught in a pitching machine, ARod buy the last out ball from Doug Mientkiewicz and let his dog chew it up and may the streak of another 86 year begin.

I hope the Yanks set the major league record for wins and let's not be modest, win 125 games. Win the divisoion by 30 games. Then get swept in the ALCS by Boston.

Now by no means am I trying to defend the Yankees cause I despise them. But I really dont like Bosox fans either because they are acting like that guy in football who scores his first and only touchdown ever and does some crazy dance. It's like the old saying goes, "Act like you've been there a hundred times."

I am very interested to see how these Sox fans would act if the Jets were down by a huge margin in the AFC championship game and ended up coming back and winning it all. Would these Pats fans be bringing up the superior Pats past, or would they hold true to these same arguments that since it's more current, it's better?
