Havn't said anying on ESPN News or YES so far.

BTW, this game is taking forever tonight, still a really good one though.

3-2, Top 7th, Go Yankees!

BTW, did anyone else notice this:

If Matsui is out for a while then our 3 starting OF's could all be Lefty's in Crosby, Damon and Cabrera. I don't know about you but I think that's pretty cool / interesting.

Horrible news.

Wonder if they look to trade or try and get by with Crosby and Melky.

Sucks for the Yanks. Matsui kills the Sox. I'd rather see Jeter at bat against the Sox.

the yankees outfield should be called brokebat with names like bernie melky and bubba

obviously the yankees are gonna have to make a trade.

I disagree. Sheff will be back soon and the Yankees will go with Melky out there in left. We dont need to replace Matsui at all, for however long it takes, I'm guessing at least a month and 1/2.

Farnsworth looked damn good today, as did Villone until Bernie misplayed that flyball in right field :Cuss:

Oh and somebody tell Joe Morgan that his reds arent the greatest team of all time, jesus christ.

They neede to trade for an outfielder even before matsui got hurt. sheffield should be DH'ing at least 3 days a week. bernie is DONE and AWFUL in right and this lineup is very weak without matsui and bernie's automatic out in there every day...

No trade needed.

Crosby, Damon, Cabrera, Bernie and Sheffield should be back by June.

Thats true. Sheffield really should be a DH....those routine flys caught by Melky yesterday might have been out of Sheffields range, thats pretty sad.

I wanted us to sign Encarnacion or Jacque Jones in the offseason to play RF, and make Sheff the DH almost permanently, only playing RF when Giambi needs to DH.

Matsui isnt much of a defensive guy either. Only Damon out there has good range. Matsui and Sheffield are below average in the field.

Hunter dosn't hit NEARLY enough to play corner outfield and we already have a CF. BIG PASS on hunter.

encarnacion would've been a great pickup. they are gonna need to pay through the nose for an OF now...

On the bench after he strikes out every other at bat? The guy is overrated.

Hunter's offensive production dosn't match his salary. And the yankees don't need another automatic out who k's way too much in the lineup.

Gosh, you guys know me, I hate to pile on...

OK, lets talk trade:

I'll give you a bag of baseballs and 2 cases of Natty Light for Melky Cabrera!

I'm not sure there is a big market for corpses...so trading the late great Bernie Williams is out.

Umm...lets see here, here is the list of WOLs (worthless overpaid untradables):

-A-rod
-Giambi*
- Capt Jetes
-Randy
-Damon
-Sheffroid*
-Whore-hay
-Wright
-Pavano
-Farnsworthless
-Dotel
-Matsui

Here are the guys you can trade at this point:

-Cano
-Mariano Rivera (providing he isnt injured/done)

What/whom do I have to give you for Cano?

ESPN is reporting that Matsui is out for at least 3 months, maybe more depending on how the wrist bones heal. Also, Cashman on ESPN said that Sheff will be rehabbing at the minors after the may 21 eligibility date to come back. So for now Melky, Damon and Crosby will be the outfield.

Maybe a midseason trade? Torii Hunter?

Hmmm...

and not to further rain on your parade, but I am going to assume that Sheffroid's not gonna be in a hurry to get back until he is damn good and ready...and maybe even not then! I know one thing, Paul Oneil woulda been back by now.

And Torrii Hunter would be great and all in CF...but I doubt the Twinkies are taking any overpaid underperformers off your hands, so there goes 95% of your roster. And Robinson Cano wont be enough! Back to the drawing board!

Honestly, he's absolutely right.

Or, give up Duncan and Hughes.

Either way the Yankees are in a tough spot.

200 million just doesn't buy what it used to.

Agree with the no trade, unless Sori is available cheap. With Bowden, you never know.

Don't panic and overpay for the likes of T. Hunter or S. Stewart. Not worth it at all.

I follow the Minors very closly. Been doing so for decades.

Melky, although not quite ready yet (ST of 2007 would have been perfect) is a lot better then you can imagine. Leave him out there. He's not a LF, but he can play.

And he is off to the worst start of his career this season. Pass.

If the Yankees foolishly offerred Cano for Hunter, the Twins would say yes so fast that Cashman would hang up the phone, before the Twins dropped off Hunter in the Bronx.

No thanks anyway. Overpaid defensive specialist, who can't hit his worth. And he is having a horrible year so far.

Relax, the lineup is powerful enough 1-6 and crosby is a gem playing defense...I think this is a blessing in disguise, moving cano up in the lineup will only play dividends later.

If you go with the current assumption, that Reese is the bench player, and Crosby is in the mix, this is the lineup I see:

Damon
Jeter
Giambi
A-Rod
Posada
Cano
Bernie
Melky
Crosby.

Torre will go along with this, most likely. If Phillips is in there instead of Bernie, then maybe he bats 9th, and the others move up.

Me?

I bat Cano behind Posada, followed by Melky, Crosby, Andy. Bernie never plays. But that's just me.
