Wait it out for now.

Do not panic and trade the farm for the likes of Torrie Hunter, Shannon STewart and company. Sori would be nice, but not for a mint. The fact that he is a FA after this season makes me a bit inclined to persue him, as we can let him go and have Hideki back. Melky should be ready by ST of next year to replace Sheff in RF.

I really don't think there is a need to panic. If anything it may be a blessing in disguise in that Torre could play a little ball "small ball" with Bubba Crosby and Melky then he could with Matsui and Sheffield.

It will hurt but there are no excuses when you are the Yankees.

For 200 million, you should have an able body replacement already on the team.

Exactly.

Great spot for it last night in the 7th or 8th. Yanks down 4-3 Bernie leads off with a double. Do you pinch hit Posada and with someone like Andy Phillips and bunt ?

Sometimes you have to make that tough call.

You have said it 100 times that the Yanks of 96-2001 were a team that was able to play "small ball" Well now Torre is gonna get his chance again. We will see what happens.

If/When Sheffield ends his boycott do we really need a big bat to replace matsui? We have enough offense, just get a good glove out there.

This is what I would do:

1. Trade Melky for Zito
2. Sign Zito
3. Trade Zito to the Mets for Lastings Milledge

It won't help the Yankees this season. But in 5 years they will have a 30/30 player. A 5 tool guy.

Interesting to see most Yankee fans do not want to make a trade- the exact opposite of what George will probably do

No trade right now. Let's go with what we have. We shall see what is needed down the road.

It is different then the Mets situation. Zito or Willis moves them from contenders, to the dominant team in teh NL. The Yankees can not do such a trade at this time, so why bother? They will still be there at the end.

So Maxman wants to trade awful Melky "Good things happen for the Red Sox when I play" Cabrera for a top-flight, relatively young left handed starter with playoff experience!?!??!!? We'll call this The Assinine Trade Proposal Thread

Well, I'll see your Melky-for-Zito trade and raise you a JT Snow for Johan Santana!

Beat that

Um, it was a joke. Pardon the lack of smileys in my posts. JN gets charged .00004 per smiley. I am just trying to keep costs down.

Oh and shut the lights off when you leave.

TX must owe you a ton.

Apparently Aubrey Huff is in the mix. I don't think I like that. The D-Rays will ask for too much IMO.

Sorry, I was assuming you were being serious about Melky-Melk. It wasnt even the craziest thing that I read on here today. Some other posters seriously think that the Twins would be lucky to have perrenial all star/gold glove caliberTorii Hunter for Whatshisname Cano!?!??!?!?!!

Can you believe it???

I never underestimate Yankee fans when it comes to:

-feeling they should get what they are owed!

-expecting every play to want to sign with them just to be a Yankee

-minimizing the gaping wounds of their own team

I say find out what it would take to get Carl Crawford from the D' Rays if a deal is to be made....otherwise stand pat.

The Yankees don't have enough.

He's a young, dynamic player locked into a very friendly contract.

Never happen.

Yep. I'm the one who stated that.

Twins would jump through hoops to make that trade. For the Yanks, it would be like giving up Amos Otis for Joe Foy, Or Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi.

If these are to much before your time, then a more recent comparison would be Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano.

Abreu?

Good name Matt and possible as Mad Dog just said he had been quietly made available earlier in the season.

As for the fans who think no trade will be made if Sheff and Matsui are both out for extended time, you are nuts.

Yeah was listening too. An interesting name was Carlos Lee. Not great defensively but the guy hits a ton. IMO, he's top 3 in the NL.

No trade.

We have Damon, Crosby, Bernie and Cabrera until Sheff comes back in a few weeks. We can live with those 4 until Sheff returns then Crosby / Bernie will split time in LF.

JBF you dumb muther###er. The Yankees would never even consider trading Cano for Tori Hunter. Christ, you're a moron.

Abreu has been bandied in trade talk, and I believe the Phillies want to trade him for several reasons

-The Phillies are overly left handed.

-Abreu is an enigma. His numbers look very good, but he is a stat whore. It is almost unfathomable that he is a reigning gold glove player because he is a loper.

Maybe it is part of his personality, and things come easy to him, but it appears he just doesn't care or try hard-ala Strawberry. Phillie fans have about tired of teh act.

Now, they guy can work a count and get a pitch to hit like it's no one's business. That porch in right is made for the guy. For some reason, he has recently lost his power stroke, but like all power hitters, he is streaky.

That would be an interesting move. Probably one less likely immediately with the Rowland injury and DL.

I don't know what the Yanks would give back that would satisfy the Phils.

Id go rescue Carl Crawford from TB and move Damon to LF.

OK...lets be frank here:

I'll give you Dustan Mohr for Robinson Cano and $3 million in cash. OK, $2.5 mil. Thats more than fair! The Pawsox could use a 2B who was 2005 Rookie of April and half of May!

Any takers?

The funny part is every trade boston makes is about that value ratio... Cashman isn't Kevin Towers though...
