In the 1st inning today, it looked like a few thinsg were taking place-

1. Johnson would rather discuss his recenlty-concluded child support case with the NY media at length than pitch to Whore Hay Posada.Johnson seems to shake him off a whole lot, a lot more than just trying to fool hitters as if that's a strategy.

2. Johnson cannot blow out 8 and 9 hitters with his fastball any more. That's a major problem. If he cannot blow ptiches by low end hitters, he won't beat many teams at all.

3. ABove all, he doesn't look like he likes or cares about playing baseball any more; he's going through the motions. Don't care how much you're making. Johnson has enough money for his grandchildren to live well off. He's 42, and if he doesn't enjoy or in his case, relish, baseball any more, the pay check doesn't even matter. This guy used to enjoy intimidating people, toying with them, bullying them. That's totally gone. And if that's really the case, it's time to go home and let the Yankees move on.

I dont know what his problem(s) is/are...whether he is hurting (you know, the kind of aches, pains that dont show up on an MRI) or whether his time is up?

Either way, I am quite sure the boos are not going to help matters. Not that Tankee fans can help themselves.

But you do bring up a good point Bugg, The Old Unit should go away and stop the madness. Otherwise, you'll have a big, ugly, surly, mulletheaded David Cone on your hands.

This was a weak hitting Oakland team, that looked pretty pathetic on Friday, and except for some shoddy Yankee fielding on Saturday, had nothing to show for the 1st two games. Then they put up a 3 spot on Randy.

I don't want to hear that he pitched better after the 1st. He needs to deliver like an ace, and he has not this season. I hope it's only mechanics, but his failure to put away guys with 2 strikes is disturbing.

Guidry has Randy's arm angle all messed up. Go look at tapes from previous years. The arm angle, it is always the arm angle!

Insert Barton Smiley here.

I cringe everytime Randy and A-rod get boo'd at Yankee stadium

i mean seriously, these guys arent going ANYWHERE this year, why drag down their confidence levels?

The A-Rod booing bothers me. But less so as to Johnson. It really looks like he doesn't want to be here, like he wants to retire but just cannot bring himself to say so. He knows that coming here was a mistake, but how does anyone walk away form $16 million?

Last week, there was some booing of MO, which should be a no-no. I mean, anyone who purchases a ticket has the right to boo anyone at any time. But a minute amount of common sense tells you that Mo, Jeter are beyond booing, at this stage of their careers, after all they have done. Hey, Mantle was cheered wildly the last few years, even though he couldn't hit, run, and struck out very often. But he was Mantle, so he got the royal treatment. Similar theory applies to Jeter and Mo. Not that they are Mantle, but they should have a reserved place in Yankee lore, for what they have done the past 10 years.

A-Rod will never be able to live up to that contract, so the booing is par for the course. He still is probably the best all-around player in the game. But he will never live that contract down.

Randy has done nothing this season, and does not have the Yankee pedigree here, so the booing is to be expected.
