View Full Version : Expectatios for Melky Cabrera? Smurf 06-05-2006, 07:44 PM What kind of #'s is he capable of with some PT?? Blackout™ 06-05-2006, 07:53 PM .290/15 homers/20 stolen bases perhaps GimmeShelter 06-05-2006, 08:18 PM .290/15 homers/20 stolen bases perhaps I agree he has looked good this time around though I am not sure he has that type of power yet. Power should increase some with age . Keep him out of CF and he should do ok. Still very young so this is great experience. Phillips looks good also. Max 06-05-2006, 09:50 PM Melky is doing much better than expected. The thing is his numers are not really important. The style of play he is helping them achieve that is what is helping. Scoring from 1st with the ball being batted. Nice. mbn007 06-06-2006, 08:24 AM I would venture that Melky will hit just around 20 HRs a year when he reaches 25-26 years old. He should be consistent around that number. He will be a .285-.315 hitter. Decent OBP, as he already has a very solid pitch recognition capability, which will only improve as he gains experience. He will be a solid corner OF, with an above average arm. He should be capable of swiping 15-20 bases a season. These would compare favorably with the stuff Paul O'Neill did during his Yankee tenure. But there will be one major difference. Melky will never be as vocal as O'Neill. Not his nature. He also will not break as many water coolers.;) PFSIKH 06-06-2006, 09:12 AM Power should increase some with age . With Shef and Giambroid on the team, he should hit 30 HRs in the second half of the season. Barton 06-06-2006, 09:25 AM Right now, it seems he's a more disciplined hitter than his teammate Robinson Cano. I love both these guys because they hit with the pitch, taking it the other way, slicing the ball. All the great hitters in the league hit the ball the other way.
