Young, great defensive player and his bat is finally catching up with the rest of his game. Blackout™ 06-05-2006, 10:28 PM youk until proven otherwise PFSIKH 06-05-2006, 10:57 PM Phillips. Young, great defensive player and his bat is finally catching up with the rest of his game. Um, FYI, Youk is 27. Phillips is 29. 29 > 27. Youk has 167 career games. Phillips 71. Phillips in one/third of the starts at 1st has as many errors. Plus, Youk has experience at third (more then 3rd at this point in his career). Youk is younger, starting to hit for average (never has been terrible), showing some power, projected to hit 21 HRs this season and in his first extensive time at 1st is showing a decent glove. Besides being a Yankee, what are you basing your decision on? 124 06-05-2006, 11:11 PM Um, FYI, Youk is 27. Phillips is 29. 29 > 27. Youk has 167 career games. Phillips 71. Besides being a Yankee, what are you basing your decision on? Wow. I could've swore Phillips was 24, 25. My mistake. I'd still take Phillips because he's a better defensemen and his bat is finally starting to come around. Bob 06-05-2006, 11:19 PM You can't go wrong with either of those guys. Each has been a nice surprise for his team. Smurf 06-05-2006, 11:28 PM Kevin Youklis ..the Greek god of mediocrity. Ill take Phillips. Garb 06-05-2006, 11:59 PM Youk is Jewish too, btw. Be careful bad-mouthing a greek/jewish gent. That can't be good. ;) Smurf 06-06-2006, 01:15 AM Youk is Jewish too, btw. Be careful bad-mouthing a greek/jewish gent. His batting average is very good and so has his defense been. Anyone who takes career back-up Andy Phillips is just a biased Yankee fan. mbn007 06-06-2006, 08:17 AM Phillips never had a shot in the Majors. But he always could hit. Check out his Minor League stats. But Giambi/Nick Johnson/Tony Clark, et al had 1B all locked up before he could get here. Andy's other positions include LF, 3b and 2B. But he was never considered for those earlier in his career. In fact, if not for Sheff's going back on the DL, Andy would barely be playing now. He really has finally started playing almost everyday only the past 10-12 days. But he is a player. And Stick Michael also thinks so. He just needed a chance. That said, Youklis has shown better overall bat skills, pitch recognition, then Andy. Until Andy gets to play everday for a long while, and continues to put up his numbers, you have to go with Youklis over Andy. |
