I was checking my email from my myspace account last week and I got an email from someone in my past long ago. When I was 7 years old I lived alone with my dad and was part of the YMCA key club in Westfield NJ. Long story short I yhad a friend there who's mother started dating my father. Eventually we all moved in together and bought a house in Scotch Plains. After about 4 years my they were married and I had a step brother. The marriage only lasted about 7 months (his mom was nuts lol) and soon enough they were divorced and moved out. While living together my stepbrother was a bit of a trouble maker, but no worse than any other kid at the time. After the divorce his mother threw him into some kind of juvi-rehab center for about 2 years or so, apparantly blaming the divorce on him. He didn't deserve to go there, and I ended up never seeing my stepbrother again. I had assumed he was long gone out of the state and who knows what happened after what his mother did to him.

Anyway I got this message and sure enough it was my stepbrother. Turns out he is doing great, has a great job, is engaged, and also plays guitar in a really good band. My wife and I had dinner and drinks with he and his fiance last Thursday and had the greatest time reminiscing and laughing about our childhood as well as catching up on lost time. It was a really cool thing and really great to be reunited with my long lost brother, and even cooler that he is doing allright after all he had been through.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

Actually he doesn't live very far from me at all, which is funny because I was always under the impression his mother and him moved out to California where they have some family. It's really wierd seeing somebody you last remember as 11 years old now 30 years old lol. I'm actually going to see his band on Friday. We'll definately stay in touch for good now.

That is really nice that you had such a positive experience from Myspace and where able to reunite with your stepbrother. There are so many horror stories out there about that site and meeting people from the internet that it is nice to hear a good outcome from it!!:D

For a small up and coming band they have a hell of a professional sound. Strangely enough we both ended up being into the same types of music. Lo Faber from God Street Wine mastered their album and plays alot with them in clubs and bars.

That's pretty cool Booz. Those social networks like Facebook and Myspace aren't always that bad, especially when your trying to find long lost friends, family, etc.

Of course, there are idiots who go out and try and meet people they don't even klnow on there. Some girl from Michigan just got picked up in the MIDDLE EAST because she was trying to meet some guy she met on myspace.

What, you can't see the logic of going to the terrorist hotspot of the world to meet that dream guy online lol? I'm certain he must have been very charming online. ;)

Ah yes, I can only imagine what his myspace profile is like:

"Hi, my name is Mohammad al-falik azir mohay-farooq-masir-mohammad. I am 22 and love to go have fun with friends and party. I am currently a senior in Al-Qaeda junior college and in my spare time, I enjoy camel racing, explosive devices (or IEDs as they call them in the streets), automatic weapons, and knitting. My favorite tv shows are al-jazeera live and "Friends"....

That's a great story. I hear a lot about kids that get sort of tossed around when divorces happen, and it's great to hear things are working out ok for him.

Geeez DK, after that whole dissertation you wrote about Poland to get back into my good graces you'd think it would be clear to you that Polish people do not eat "kraut". They eat kapusta, which is a polish version of pickled cabbage that is stewed with various meats such as pork and kielbasa to give it a much milder and less acidic flavor. Don't make me give you another homework assignment.
