Neither one really has pitched enough in the majors to say they are elite pitchers-Kazmir obviously has the bigger upside with youth but he has a mediocre team supporting him that will hurt him

Kazmir.

Young, upcoming talent who will be around for years.

Contreas is on the older side and will not be in the Majors for too many more years.

Contreras will be AL Cy Young this year,,,

Jose failed in NY. Obviously the Yankees wish they had a pitcher like that in the rotation. But would he be that pitcher if he were still here?

Unlikely. Look at his performances against Boston. He was a different guy.

Also Kazmir is 14 and Jose is 54. So it is a little early to judge.

Cy Young

What the White Sox did last year hurts far more than any "individual award". Maybe we just have different thoughts on the game. But I would rather the Yankees just win it all. It doesn't matter who wins the awards for having the best stats.

Cintrares just could not pitch here in NY. He had the Ed Whitson/Kenny Rogers disease. Needs a place that is not under the constant media glare.

Kazmir was a young potential that was traded away. It turned out to be a rotten deal for the Mets. The same logic is applied to the Nolan Ryan - Jim Fregosi, and Amos Otis - Joy Foy deals back in the early 10970s. Young potential traded for Vets who may have been able to help now. All these moves backfired.

OK lol but Jose DID SUCK HERE. Thats why he was traded.

Ya see, the Yankees had a reason to trade Jose Contreras because he sucked it hard. The Mets had absolutely no reason to trade Kazmir for a dud like Zambrano.

Thats the difference. If you cant understand this you need to get your head checked.

He hasnt won the Cy Young quite yet so chill out.

Barton, of course he understands...but what he understands even more than that is that all he has to do is continue starting these riddiculous threads to push peoples buttons and it amazes me at how many people fall for it. Any logical, reasonable person can understand the point you are trying to make because it is 100% accurate. He and JBF dont come on here to talk baseball. They come on here to aggravate Yankee fans with riddiculous predictions like "the mets will outdraw the Yankees this season" (hows that working out for you). Barton, stop letting the guy have his way with you man. Let it go. When you know you're right just move on.

Wow you obviously have a thick skull. Contreras may be a good pitcher in Chicago but he was sh!t in NY. He just couldn't get it done here so there was no point in keeping him. Also, Kazmir is probably 20 years younger than Contreras so that's probably an advantage.

Mets are gonna out draw the Yanks huh? Dude, you've proven yourself many times over to be unable to hold an adult discussion. You have to resort to the type of stuff you just said any time you're proven wrong. Nice try, but I'm not taking the bate.

You misunderstood, I meant that I wasn't going to do what you get so many people on this board to do which is have long drawn out debates that go on for pages about issues that you know you're wrong on. You and I both know you're dead wrong on this issue (we've become accustomed to it) but I have no problem letting you know that I see through you're act in a couple of posts. You can spend all day on here pissing off the guys who think you actually believe what you say but I know a little better than that.

If nothing else though, and I mean this in complete, 100% honesty. This is not being sarcastic, not being a smartass....just pure honesty. There is a part of me that actually has a little bit of respect for what you and JBF do. The two of you come out day after day pretending to want to talk baseball and for years now (well JBF for years, you for a few months) you guys get Yankee fans all riled up. I can see some of the things you guys say and immediately I laugh, shake my head, and go to the next thread because I know there isn't a baseball discussion being started but a "how can I piss the Yankee fans off today" thread. These threads you start don't bother me, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me that others can't see through the game you guys are playing and they continually get in to pissing contests with you guys.

Carry on

I hear you loud and clear. Since that issue with the wins that he made and updated the other day, I have put him on my ignore list, and the threads have been a much better read without reading his garbage here. Now JBF is one guy that I don't put on ignore, since some (not much though) of his stuff is actually funny. But jermain and southern posts - I can do without. ALthough jermaine is not here anymore, so I really can remove him from my ignore list.

Give me the posts from the guys who discuss Baseball - yourself, the Tiger fans, the Cubbies fans, LatinLawyer, Max, GJ&H (as passonate as they come, as well as countless others here. These are what make it all worthwhile.

I agree completely mbn. There are some people who partake in this forum who are quite capable of having an adult baseball discussion. Not to say that ballbusting from time to time isn't cool, but starting topics just to scream for attention or try to get people mad is a mind set most people got out of in high school.

I have no problem listening to what guys like LL and SD say because the vast majority of the time there is some logic to it and the personal attacks are left out. The Yankee fans are well represented here with a couple of folks who do wear the pinstriped glasses but thats something that changes from fan to fan.

I started using the ignore list a few weeks ago and the forum is a lot better. It'd be nice if the BS filter would take care of quoted comments but what can you do?
