Jesus Colome who was a below the radar signing by the Yankees a few months ago is rehabbing in AAA and threw 2.1 scoreless innings in the Clippers last game. Colome struggled last season in Tampa with the Devil Rays but the once highly touted righty reliever posted a very solid season in 2004 (2-2 3.27 ERA 41 IP 28 H 18 BB 40 SO).
He has a great fastball that would regularly hit 95+ the few times I've seen him and if he can harness his stuff he can be a great replacement for a few of the RPs the Yankees are using right now.
Opinions?

He won't get the call unless there are injuries. Dotel is next.

Dotel has had some setbacks and Colome has outpitched him in Columbus

He had 3 games, a 5+ ERA, and was sidelined again with elbow issues. The Yankees said it was "nothing to worry about" a few weeks ago and the guy hasn't pitched since.

No, you just don't want him in Pinstripes because you're way too sold on the idea that Octavio Dotel is the savior. He blew last year in Oakland, maybe he would've been a good set-up man and maybe Carl Pavano would've been a better #5 starter then Jaret Wright. Problem is, we won't know because neither are going to be back in 06. Call up Colome in September when the roster expands.
