Mets signed infielder Edgardo Alfonzo to a minor league contract.
Back with his original organization. Alfonzo had just signed with an independant league club last week, going 4-for-14 in four games. The Mets will assign him to Triple-A Norfolk. It's unlikely that he'll be of any use down the stretch. Jul. 15 - 3:31 pm et

I saw this-I always liked Edgar - was sorry the Mets traded him away-his career has gone downspiraling since- insurance policy to kep in the minors in case of injuries right now

He could be a nice bench player, and give Wright some defensive relief late in games. Chris Woodard is no great shakes.
