Pedro Martinez walked off the mound after an awful first inning, and it might be a while before he's out there again. The New York Mets' ace strained his right calf and left after giving up six runs Monday night, and the Philadelphia Phillies went on to romp 13-0.

I say give him more time off. He's got to be right for the playoffs or we're in trouble.
Yikes, that was a beating today, but thankfully this team normally keeps it close.

I agree that they should shut him down until say, Sept. 15th or so. Even if the Mets go on a losing streak. So the lead drops to 10 games? Big deal.
But get Pedro healthy. The Mets are not getting past the NLDS without him.
Credit where it's due - Pedro postponed his trip to the DL much later in the season than usual.
I know he's not officially on the DL yet, but he will be.
