I know, I know.

You know how much crap we got for signing Damon though?

"Ohhh, Crisp is sooo much better. Plus he's younger and cheaper."

Damon's been an absolulte monster this season and he's crushing his former team. Him killing the Sox for letting him go the other day in an interview was priceless.

None of the Sawx fans will admit it, but they miss Damon...a lot. They have two guys in their lineup that teams actually fear. And Cocoa Crisp is surely not one of them.

As much I dislike Damon for chasing the all-mighty dollar and going to the Yankees, he has put together an unbelievable season. I doubt even Yankee fans thought he was going to be this good.

He has hit 20 HR's right?

Yep. He's got 20.

Yep. He's got 20.

He has been out of his mind in this series. I swear he batting .500! I think the Fenway fans have even stopped booing him when he comes to the plate as they are flabbergasted by his performance this weekend.

Same money. The Yanks though gave him an extra year.

Correct. Will the Yanks regret 2010? Only time will tell. Not like they can't afford it!

Johnny Damon just might be my favorite baseball player.

Just think how good he'd be doing if they didn't make him shave and cut his hair.

you always take the proven big time player over the unproven player with potential/upside

The DAmon who is playing in Fenway this weekend is not the same Damon who played there in early May. Big time series by the leadoff guy. On the opposite end, Crisp has not looked to good, often swinging at the 1st or 2nd pitch, not hitting, and not exactly distinguising himself in the field.

And Cocoa Crisp is surely not one of them.

Have not figured out the multi-quote thing and I am too lazy to cut and paste. ;-)

On your first point. I doubt anyone said the former, but the latter is true. Coco started out on fire and has not been the same since breaking his hand and missing two months. Plus, he has an arm which Johnny has never been confused with having.

Second point. Could the Sox use Johnny? Yes, obviously. I know I like the signing because Crisp is younger and his 2004 and 2005 numbers were right there with Johnny's.

Third point. Not exactly fair. No one was afraid of Johnny either when he arrived.

The bottomline, while the Sox are worse this year and who knows if we would be having this discussion if Coco did not get hurt, but I digress. The Sox are a little worse because of Johnny's abscence. However, they have a player that is much younger and going by his 2004, 2005 and pre-injury 2006, he is as good offensively except for maybe a little short in power.

The only centerfielder with less of an arm than Johnny is Coco

Dude, Coco seriously has a noodle

Neither one has an arm even worth mentioning....this is like arguing about who's prettier...Rosanne Barr or Rosie O' Donnell

You know it and I know it...if Damon is on the Yanks in 2004, the Sox are minus a trophy.

Come on Sox fans, a standing O for Johnny today...especially after what has taken place the last 4 games...damn, you guys had an opportunity to be ahead of the Yanks in your park and you'll be down at the very minimum 4.5 games after today.

Damon could be Babe Ruth reincarnated.

I can accept, although I do not agree with, all your points except for the 2 highlighted ones.

Coco is marginally, at best, better at throwing then Damon. The difference is negilible. But Damon makes up for his lack of an arm with superior OF coverage. Crisp seems to be taking some strange routes towards fly balls. Watch the very first batter of game 1, Friday. Damon's triple. Crisp was sort of running towards the ball, but never really running where it was hit to.

Your other point is not real true. Damon was a well known commodity when he signed as a Free Agent with the Bosox 5 years ago, this Winter. He had excellent commodities as a leadoff hitter with KC and Oakland. Noone had any doubts that he was a superb offensive force when he arrived in Fenway.
