View Full Version : MUST WATCH New Shows of the TV Season. -Thoughts?
G.O.B. 09-29-2006, 01:41 PM OK so I've watched Kidnapped and Jerricho and like them both. I have Friday Night Lights on the TiVo schedule but have a sneaking suspicion it won't last. I wanted to watch Shark with my man James Woods but keep forgetting.
Any shows out there that are worth my time. Before you say it, I only watch shows I am 100% into. If I as much as utter, ahh not bad, I won't watch it again as I don't like to spend time IFO the tv watching crap
JetFanByMarriage 09-29-2006, 01:45 PM I love:
lost, grey's anatomy, biggest loser, kidnapped, amazing race, medium. I know there are more but just cannot think of them.

Talk about the ultimate chick flick.

I tried one night but feel asleep. I will try again.
I love:
lost, grey's anatomy, biggest loser, kidnapped, amazing race, medium. I know there are more but just cannot think of them.
Let me save you some time, GOB:
Six Degrees shows some promise....I like the whole karma angle - the whole "we are all connected" angle - and the fact that Tom Brady's long-time girlfriend stars in the show.
Otherwise, they all pretty much stink. Not that I have seen them all - but don't they usually stink? Example: Lost is good - but if you miss the first several espisodes, you're "lost" for good. Desperate Housewives could possible be the worst show on TV next to that new show Ugly Betty - God awful. Grey's Anatomy - watched it last night for the second time in my life. I wanted to kick myself in the arse. Some very good performances - but jeez-lousie, the story lines - it's just a more educated version of Desperate Housewives - Desperate, F&cked-up Doctors. Obviously demographic studies have shown that the Sopa Opera set is working full time now - so may as well bring Soap Opera's to prime time. No need for Tivo, Alk! ;)
Must see's for me?
Nip/tuck - (if story lines are going to be absurd, you may as well go all the way), Rescue Me- (funny stuff), Entourage- (funny stuff), Sopranos -(even though it sucks now - I keep watching and hoping it becomes great again), Project Runway (Can't even describe how much I LOVE this reality show) and maybe Survivor.
So as you can see, my taste is suspect! LOL!
strange_andy 09-29-2006, 02:17 PM The pilot for Heroes on NBC was pretty cool, that's if you are into the comic/superhero thing.
I hope it hangs around.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is great. I had taped the first two episodes and watched them both last night. It's my new favorite show.
JetFanByMarriage 09-29-2006, 02:30 PM I also love Big Love.
Ugly Beatty was not any good? It was being touted as one of the best new shows possibly
I also love Big Love.
I liked that, too. Deadwood is my favorite HBO series, though the season ender was disappointing.
jetsrule128 09-29-2006, 02:40 PM 1-big brother
2-lost
3-survivor
4-amazing race
5-family guy
6-the soup
7-endurance
8-best week ever
9 the war at home
10-the simpsons
11-snl
12-mad tv
Ugly Beatty was not any good? It was being touted as one of the best new shows possibly
Worse than "not any good." Worse than "bad" even. I was very disappointed. I'm a fan of the show's excutive producer, Selma Heyak - she does a lot of charitable work for victimized women throughout the world and is an "advocate" of sorts for "women with real life curves." - but man, this show sucks out loud.

Not even worth a second chance it was that bad- I am just going on the reviews of all new shows that I read and I know this one was on the list that had a good shot to succeed.

Don't bother.....plus, The JN Executive Staff is going to start questioning your manhood if you become a regular viewer. Ugly Betty isn't exactly The Man Show.
(pssst.....Faba, okay, I asked Max, and I swear I didn't tell him it was you, but he told me that JetNation's Health Care Provider does NOT cover sex reassignment surgery.)

I am going to have to review the health coverage at jetnation for sex change operation procedures thanks Garb
Gainzo 09-29-2006, 03:54 PM The Wire is the best show on TV. Too bad nobody watches it.
Anyone know when The Shield starts?
Verde 09-29-2006, 05:26 PM Heros anyone? JetHeelz?
Pretty good show, although a slight rip of XMen.
JetFanByMarriage 05-18-2007, 12:53 PM So now what does everyone feel about their choices???
I still love Grey's Anantomy and Lost. The last couple of weeks have been great on both shows.
I'm bummed that Studio 60 got cut. I guess it was too smart for audiences that watch "reality" drivel.
G.O.B. 05-18-2007, 03:14 PM Looks like I was 0 - 2. Kidnapped didn't make 5 weeks, Jericho at least a full season.
joewilly 05-18-2007, 03:17 PM JFBM,

welcome back tx. how ya been dumbass? :rl:
oktaren 05-18-2007, 03:45 PM the office. thats it. there really isn't anything new on tv that is worth watching.
if im watching tv and its not the office its probably a documentary or repeats of something actually worth watching.

The Office and LOST have combined to take over my life recently. I had to play "catch-up" for both shows because I missed the first 2 seasons when the shows first came out. I am fully caught up on both and am totally obsessed.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 03:50 PM The Office is obviously the best show around right now. That being said, 30 Rock is another terrific NBC comedy and was easily one of the best new shows.
All major networks take note: CANCEL EVERYTHING that is not The Office because oktaren says so.

the office is great. i tried to get into lost because alot of people i know like it, but really, i just couldn't. didn't think it was that great.
oktaren 05-18-2007, 03:52 PM All major networks take note: CANCEL EVERYTHING that is not The Office because oktaren says so.
or stop putting crap on tv in the first place...
just put something else on that is worth watching.
oktaren 05-18-2007, 03:52 PM The Office is obviously the best show around right now. That being said, 30 Rock is another terrific NBC comedy and was easily one of the best new shows.
i watched a couple episodes of that, and liked them, but it got repetetive and kinda stupid near the end of this season in my opinion.
I watch Seinfeld reruns -and watch practically no live shows anymore-is something wrong with me- do not answer that!
Jetsfan80 05-18-2007, 04:00 PM I watch Seinfeld reruns -and watch practically no live shows anymore-is something wrong with me- do not answer that!
The only "live" shows are ones like SNL. And since no one watches that anymore, you are technically not alone in that statement, faba. Just sayin'.
The Office sucks.
I gotta agree. I tried to watch that show from the beginning and just couldn't get into it.
oktaren 05-18-2007, 04:09 PM The Office sucks.
alot of people think it sucks, which is refreshing, because alot of people have ****ty senses of humour.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 04:55 PM The Office sucks.
Blasphemy.
Thor99 05-18-2007, 05:17 PM The Office sucks.
Bob, I think for the second time in my life, I agree with you. We might just get to be best buddies after all.
My Name Is Earl blows The Office away.

My Name Is Earl blows The Office away.
my name is earl is ok, i liked it at first but its a little over the top in my opinion. if you like crap like the family guy, you would probably like my name is earl.
jetheelz 05-18-2007, 06:10 PM Heros anyone? JetHeelz?
Pretty good show, although a slight rip of XMen.
Sorry it took me so long to reply to this, I am just seeing it.
Heroes is a good show (however I don't devote as much attention to it as I do Smallville and Supernatural), although this first season seems to have gone by so slow. One more episode left, this Monday. I also catch reruns on the Scifi channel every so often.
G.O.B. 05-18-2007, 06:25 PM alot of people think it sucks, which is refreshing, because alot of people have ****ty senses of humour.
I have one of the greatest senses of humor around......and The Office still sucks in my opinion. It was based off a British show...that should be a red flag right there.
oktaren 05-18-2007, 06:31 PM I have one of the greatest senses of humor around......and The Office still sucks in my opinion. It was based off a British show...that should be a red flag right there.
everyone says they have a great sense of humor. that means nothing. if you like any movie with an snl character in it, if you like the family guy, or anything similar, you don't have a great sense of humor. so, what do you like?
Arsis 05-18-2007, 06:31 PM anyone mention House yet? great show, criminal minds is great the psychology is that show is accurate.
Maybe, if my brain tissue was clogged with pot resin, I'd like The Office, too.
Arsis 05-18-2007, 07:09 PM I have one of the greatest senses of humor around......and The Office still sucks in my opinion. It was based off a British show...that should be a red flag right there.
There are some pretty funny British comedies, comedians and movies, Monty python, eddie izzard, hott fuzz and shaun of the dead to name a few.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 07:09 PM Bob, I think for the second time in my life, I agree with you. We might just get to be best buddies after all.
My Name Is Earl blows The Office away.
Not a chance in hell. My Name Is Earl seems like a nice little show that's pretty funny. The Office is comedy genius in every episode.
I did however tip my urologist because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones.

Arsis 05-18-2007, 07:12 PM The office sucks, it's so boring and just stupid.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 07:14 PM everyone says they have a great sense of humor. that means nothing. if you like any movie with an snl character in it, if you like the family guy, or anything similar, you don't have a great sense of humor. so, what do you like?
It's cool that you like The Office but damn are you an arrogant guy. Family Guy is a great show and I barely know anybody who doesn't like it. And are you saying Wayne's World wasn't a funny movie? Maybe your sense of humor isn't that great after all and you just think you're better than everybody else. I have a hard time understanding how somebody would not find The Office to be a funny show but it's their loss if they don't appreciate it.
And I swear to god if somebody even mentions 2 and a Half Men in the sentence as The Office I will punch them.
Arrested Development is another hysterical show that unfortunately got cancelled because people would rather watch crappy comedies with laugh tracks.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 07:14 PM The office sucks, it's so boring and just stupid.
That is patently false. I'm curious how much of it have you seen?
Are you really going to tell me this isn't funny?

jetheelz 05-18-2007, 07:16 PM Hey MasonJet, I take it from your avatar you like Aqua Teen Hunger Force..that is one of my favorite mini-shows that comes on adult swim.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 07:19 PM Hey MasonJet, I take it from your avatar you like Aqua Teen Hunger Force..that is one of my favorite mini-shows that comes on adult swim.
Oh yeah that is a great show. That and Robot Chicken are two funny shows on Adult Swim. I like Aqua Teen better, it is completely random and makes no sense but it can have me lmao sometimes.
Arsis 05-18-2007, 07:21 PM That is patently false. I'm curious how much of it have you seen?

That was retarded, what was funny about it? I don't get what was supposed to be funny?
oktaren 05-18-2007, 07:22 PM It's cool that you like The Office but damn are you an arrogant guy. Family Guy is a great show and I barely know anybody who doesn't like it. sorry, i just have humor standards. i did like arrested development, and seinfeld was great too. so its not like the office is the only good show that has ever been on tv. there just aren't ANY right now.
no, i didn't really think waynes world was that funny. there were funny moments, but not really overall. as for the family guy, its just ridiculous, it isn't funny in the slightest, just stupid.
as for me being arrogant, nah, i just know im better than most, like 97% :)
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 07:23 PM That was retarded, what was funny about it? I don't get what was supposed to be funny?
What was supposed to be funny??? Is that question supposed to be rhetorical??
He burned his foot on a George Foreman Grill!!
oktaren 05-18-2007, 07:24 PM There are some pretty funny British comedies, comedians and movies, Monty python, eddie izzard, hott fuzz and shaun of the dead to name a few.
shaun of the dead was TERRIBLE. monty python isn't funny either. but, there is some funny as hell british ****.
oktaren 05-18-2007, 07:24 PM Maybe, if my brain tissue was clogged with pot resin, I'd like The Office, too.
nope, just smart, and have a good sense of humor.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 07:25 PM sorry, i just have humor standards. i did like arrested development, and seinfeld was great too. so its not like the office is the only good show that has ever been on tv. there just aren't ANY right now.

I have humor standards as well. I think about 99% percent of people would disagree with you on Family Guy so you're just wrong on that one. Of course it's ridiculous the best comedies always are.
Have you ever watched It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia? It is a great comedy I would put right up there with The Office.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 07:27 PM shaun of the dead was TERRIBLE. monty python isn't funny either. but, there is some funny as hell british ****.
Wow now Monty Python isn't funny either? I don't think your sense of humor is quite as special as you think it is. I just think you like to say stuff isn't funny when just about everybody finds it funny.
I'm guessing you thought Blazing Saddles sucked too?
Arsis 05-18-2007, 07:27 PM What was supposed to be funny??? Is that question supposed to be rhetorical??
He burned his foot on a George Foreman Grill!!
so? that's just dumb, I'm supposed to laugh at stupid people now? I bet you mocked the handicapped as a teen.
oktaren 05-18-2007, 07:27 PM I have humor standards as well. I think about 99% percent of people would disagree with you on Family Guy so you're just wrong on that one. Of course it's ridiculous the best comedies always are.

i would say 99% of the united states does not have humor standards. nah, closer to 97...
the family guy has funny moments, but overall its just stupid in my opinion. i would say the same about aqua teen. i like things to be over the top, but somewhat realistic. if it isn't somewhat realistic, im not going to like it. those shows just put stupid **** together and think its funny. its not.
although, i hate cartoons, so that probably has something to do with it as well.
no, i have never seen its always sunny in philadelphia. ill check it out.
oktaren 05-18-2007, 07:28 PM so? that's just dumb, I'm supposed to laugh at stupid people now? I bet you mocked the handicapped as a teen.
you would have to see it in the context of the show. not just one scene. if that is stupid, what do you call anything on aqua teen or family guy.
MasonJet 05-18-2007, 07:29 PM so? that's just dumb, I'm supposed to laugh at stupid people now? I bet you mocked the handicapped as a teen.
Wow going a little over the top are we? I guess you just have to watch the show I'm not going to bother arguing about if you can't appreciate the Office's hilarity it's your loss.
And as long as we're talking about comedies Airplane is on Comedy Central at the moment. :p
jetheelz 05-18-2007, 10:59 PM if that is stupid, what do you call anything on aqua teen or family guy.
