View Full Version : 50 Worst Artists in Music History vanDoug 12-09-2006, 12:38 PM Somewhat amusing, not to be taken too seriously. http://www.blender.com/guide/articles.aspx?id=466 Verde 12-09-2006, 12:40 PM How is Live on that list? vanDoug 12-09-2006, 12:49 PM How is Live on that list? Dunno. But I'm glad Kenny G and Micheal Bolton made it near the top. Thor99 12-09-2006, 12:57 PM How is Live on that list? Except for Pain Down by the Riverside, they stink. For a little while they were challenging U2 in the 'Take Yourselves Too Seriously' contest. Verde 12-09-2006, 01:01 PM Except for Pain Down by the Riverside, they stink. For a little while they were challenging U2 in the 'Take Yourselves Too Seriously' contest. There are many many others who better deserve that spot on the 50 worst list, don't you agree? Preston Howley III 12-09-2006, 01:06 PM I like question 4, answer b. :p jets22 12-09-2006, 01:09 PM The Doors?? Far worse bands could have been included. Thor99 12-09-2006, 01:16 PM There are many many others who better deserve that spot on the 50 worst list, don't you agree? I wouldn't say many, they belong in the top 75 anyway. The fact that The Doors is on this list makes me question the intelligence of the writers. Boozer76 12-09-2006, 01:20 PM The Doors?? Far worse bands could have been included. The Doors are probably the only one on that list that would likely also make a top 50 of all time. I agree Live should not have been on the list. They were a great band starting out, but I admit they started taking themselves way too seriously after a while. Blind Melon has no business on that list either. Anyone who thinks No Rain is what that band was about has obviously never listened to them. The Spin Doctors were not really around long enough to warrant being on a list like that. The description is pretty spot on, but I don't know if they belong with the 50 worst ever. Ironically, my step brother just played a show with the lead singer from the Spin Doctors last night. Boozer76 12-09-2006, 01:37 PM How does this band not make that list? http://youtube.com/watch?v=fIaYkfyjcb0 Panzer Division Marduk 12-09-2006, 04:29 PM Ywngwie 14th? Unleash the fooookin foooooory! SoFlaJets 12-09-2006, 05:25 PM these people have taste up their asses-anybody that can put The Doors,Live,Toad the wet Sprocket,The Hooters,Richard Marx,Dan Fogelberg,Kansas,ELP AND Mick Jagger on any kind of worst-ever list hasn't been paying attention too well the last 40 years Gainzo 12-09-2006, 05:29 PM No "Right Said Fred?" That list is bogus! I may be a little jaded as I like around 10 artists on that list. :bag: SoFlaJets 12-09-2006, 05:38 PM No "Right Said Fred?" That list is bogus! Here is a story for you: My ex-wife told me that back in the mid 80's her Dad bought tickets for the New Kids on the Block concert at Foxboro for her and her sisters. Poor Dad had no idea that his daughers thought it was very lame. But being the good daughters that they were they went to the concert and actually liked it! My ex was into Metallica at the time so this was a big admission on her part to tell me she enjoyed the show! Believe it or not the New Kids did not lip synch. Although she did tell me that couldn't hear the vocals that well as there were 30,000 10 year-old girls screaming the whole time! SoFlaJets 12-09-2006, 05:50 PM U2 should be top five. oh yea I agree definitely top 5 greatest all time Sharrow 12-09-2006, 06:17 PM You'd think if 9 people wrote the thing, which apparantly is the case, that there would have to be somebody smart enough to veto the doors from the list and save at least a little credibility. And I thought Rolling Stone had the monopoly on bad music "lists" SoFlaJets 12-09-2006, 06:24 PM I believe it! Those cats got more pookie than all of us guys here combined. What a great way to grow up...they had to have lived good previous lives... their karma seems to have been pretty good PFSIKH 12-09-2006, 08:04 PM How is Live on that list? How is it not higher? vanDoug 12-09-2006, 08:11 PM And I thought Rolling Stone had the monopoly on bad music "lists" Yeah, me too. Their top 100 guitarists of all time was pretty funny. justincredible 12-09-2006, 08:54 PM Live and The Doors do not belong on the list, IMO. The rest are pretty bad though. Verde 12-09-2006, 09:01 PM How is it not higher? It doesn't make sense. Just like Patriots fans on a Jets message board! http://www.jetnation.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif jetophile 12-09-2006, 10:44 PM Bay City Rollers. If they aren't on there, they should be. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40813000/jpg/_40813384_baycityrollers203.jpg Holy Cr*p. The Troll 12-09-2006, 10:51 PM oh yea I agree definitely top 5 greatest all time Worst. jetheelz 12-09-2006, 10:53 PM Manowar is on there.....blasphemy!! :) McGraw38 12-09-2006, 11:25 PM LOL knew ICP would be on the list. Sucks I kinda like 'em:bag: LadySeminole 12-09-2006, 11:32 PM I dont see how Live,Blind Melon,Toad the Wet Sprocket made it onto the list. The Goo Goo Dolls too, I'm a fan and their music is pretty good for the genre. Speaking of bad lists, where are the cruddy boy bands that should be near the top of the list? Thor99 12-10-2006, 12:21 AM I believe it! Here is a story for you: Here's another funny one... While in the Army, I was sent down to Miami after Hurricane Andrew. I was lucky enough to get tix to the Hurricane Relief Concert. Chicks love a guy in uniform is all I have to say, but I digress. John Secada came out singing one of his quasi-hits, and was drinking water when his voice came over the speakers. I wonder how he did that? NJ 12-10-2006, 12:25 AM There are some real bad bands on there, but the 9 authorities just prove again that musical appreciation is all personal taste. From my experience, the vast majority of our populous (much, much, better than 50%) has little or no appreciation for well written songs played by talented musicians. This gets proofed out daily by just turning on the radio. The guys who are in the business of selling music to the world, much more often than not, take a song from a band that is catchy in some non-descript way and pitch that to radio stations because thats what the majority of listeners will like. Hence, unless we buy the CD, we usually don't get to hear the bands good songs. Ask 10 random people what songs the Allman Brothers do and 6 or 7 will tell you Ramblin Man. That's my point. If anybody's interested and listen's to web streams, there's a station out of Chicago that streams their daily broadcast's but has another real cool stream. The stations producers put out a stream called Deep Tracks. They take the best other album cuts that never got airtime and play them all day and night with no commercials. It won't be for everybody as it's late 60's, 70's, and into the eighty's, but it's already turned me on to some real great cuts by bands I never bought any music from. Check it out - http://www.wdrv.com/deeptracksStream.php Panzer Division Marduk 12-10-2006, 07:26 AM Manowar is on there.....blasphemy!! :) A list made by wimps and posers, clearly. AirForceJetFan 12-10-2006, 10:11 AM I like a few of those bands...Spin Doctors, Blind Melon, Live, and I must admit, some Insane Clown Posse songs that I've heard make me laugh. Two guys absolutely devoid of talent without a doubt though. Dylan 12-10-2006, 03:35 PM you could have made a list of the 50 worst artists of history just by the artists who came out this year. just watch mtv for an hour Big Al NYC 12-10-2006, 03:58 PM My only disagreement is with Primus being on that list. I loved those guys in highschool, man. Right around '93, they were the sh*t. I would nominate The Barenaked Ladies to take that spot. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b6/Primus-Sailing_the_Seas_of_Cheese.jpg |
