Hey guys (and anybody else on active duty or the reserves) I have a few questions I'd like to bounce off of you when you get a chance. I'm thinking about signing up for a twenty grand bonus.

Here's a question that the recruiter won't/can't answer:

How much does Uncle Sam take off the top? 15%?

Thanks.

It is like it is a normal pay and allowance. They include it and it is subject to taxes at your going rate. For a lower enlisted, that is probably in the 15-20% range.

The bonus is contingent of you passing Basic & AIT at the minimum. After you meet this requirement you are paid. I am not sure, but I think it is installments ( for larger bonuses) instead of one lump sum.

This could be good for you. If you are deployed when the bonus is to be paid, you will get the whole lump sum. As deployed soldiers are in a tax exempt status.

Hey before the recruiter sells you a line of $hit PM me. Recruiters are essentially car salesman. They are good people, but to be tabbed to be a recruiter sucks. You are an NCO, more often then not an NCO for a few years and essentially get treated like a dirtbag by the Recruiting Command as they hold your career over your head.
