Mesa is just another arm for the pen, holding down the fort until someone steps up from the Minors.

Inge is a good signing. They are getting him cheap, relatively speaking. The deal tops out at 6.6 million, which is a very good deal for the Tigers.

ok, i understand Mesa is another arm for the pen, but with all the burners they have, you'd think they would stay away from a guy like this . . .

He's old, but he's still a little juice left. He did a good job closing for the pirates in 04 and 05. Its not like he's going to be their go-to guy either.

He's going to be a middle reliever for us. nothing more. He's replacing Walker who we lost to the O's. It's a one year deal and they more than likely made it until one of their prospects like Jordan Tata can progress enough to be called up mid-season.
