So...who's going to shell out the money for the latest Windows software?

It looks really sharp, and it's more reliable and won't crash.

On the other hand, my XP hardly crashes. Also, I'm concerned about compatability with Norton Systemworks, Internet Security, and Antivirus.

I know my system can handle the upgrade, but is it worth it?

Just wait for a pirated version to come out. They usually don't take too long; maybe a few months at the most.

I got to agree with Sperm.

My ex-boss sent me build 5284(?) and I have been running it on my laptop for the last 6 mos.

It is not bad. My laptop is barely above the suggested requirements and the old adage that applies to that is true. It works, but it my laptop needs more memory and better grahics card. I use my laptop for work, but at the time of the upgrade it was for movies and games. There were some issues with that as not everything I had made it past the built-in test that sees if the machine works. I did not delve too much into it, but it did not like some pirated stuff or anything on a reusable Trial Version.

I like the presentation. It is different and a little more user freindly IMO. I also threw on Office 2007 and I liked that also. Especially, the presentation part.

The bottomline is it is nice. For my use, XP works as well as Vista.

The lastest one is called Sienna. That's all the info I have.

Been testing it at work. They did a few things that I really like. Minor enhancements but I like the preview window for the stuff you have minimized. Little thumbnails, kind of cool.

Was never a real big fan of XP. Not sure why though. Loved Windows 2000. But if you worked with NT long enough 2k was a welcome addition.

The Pirated version is already out. Go to demoniod.com and get it if you want.

Well, say what you will, but I just did it.

I'm still working out a few kinks, but I now have Vista Ultimate. The eye candy is really nice, and there's a lot of new features. Fast bootup, really fast boot from sleep mode, no crashes yet, and better multitasking. Just a start.

I ordered a desktop on Monday forgetting that Vista was released that day.

I'm getting the machine tomorrow and will play around with Vista over the weekend.

I was a huge fan of Windows 2000 (coming from years spent with NT) and I don't really like XP so I'm not sure what to expect from Vista.

I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Apparently there are no known issues with Norton. I decided to try Windows Live One Care instead of Norton and So far after 2 weeks, I like the One Care more than Norton.

I just added more ram to my laptop to install Vista. Ive been playing with Vista at work and there are several things I like better about it.

Do not. I repeat, Do Not "upgrade" to Vista.

I turned on my month old desktop yesterday (That came with Vista) and received a message that said "No Operating System Found."

I had to get the Vista CD and select "Repair" to get my desktop to work.

I had turned on my desktop maybe 10 times before that occurred.

Vista=CRAP!

LOL

Welcome to the world of Windows, some PC's crap out in 10 days, some last for 10 years...

I have had 5 PCs since '97 starting with Windows 95 and going up to XP pro, while tons of people had many problems I still have all 5 (some running in my store) and the newer ones at home now for personal use and home business and none have EVER messed up AT ALL...

Its the luck of the draw with windows PC's... you werent lucky.. :) its cause your a PATS fan...

I would have taken the thing back. That is ridiculous.

I have Vista on a new laptop, it's a horrendous memory hog. If your computer isn't lightning fast with a boatload of RAM (over 1G) then seriously don't do it. My laptop can handle it just fine, but I do find it to be very glitchy at times. I've disabled most of the new features because I find them to be useless and waste resources. I use my laptop mostly for musical purposes, and I am quite disappointed to find that alot of my equipment made by very large well known leaders in the industry are not compatible.
