And in comparing his team to the team he’ll be facing during a Thursday interview with the Associated Press, Kraft took great pains to avoid mentioning the other team by name. “I don’t want to speak to how other people do things or be judgmental about what motivates other people,” Kraft said. “But stylistically, I think we do things a little bit different than the folks we’re playing this weekend.” It’s the nicest possible way of saying that he doesn’t like how the team-that-wasn’t-named does things. “I’m proud of the way [our] team is conducting itself right now,” Kraft said. “We’re trying to let our actions speak when we play.” Kraft presumably made that observation before receiver Wes Welker stood behind a podium on Thursday and poked fun, repeatedly, at the whole Rex Ryan foot fetish thing. “We want to win very badly this weekend,” Kraft said. “The style of people from New England is to try to let our actions speak on Sunday at 4:30 and not have a lot of blather and say things that, in some ways, take away from the game.” The fact that the WWE-style chatter makes things spicier isn’t enough to persuade Kraft that it’s the right thing to do, especially when profanity is involved. “n the end there’s a lot of little kids watching,” Kraft said. “There’s a lot of people who look up to us, and so I think we’ve got to walk on a higher plane. But what’s right for some people to get motivated, I don’t want to be judgmental of what’s right for them. Our style is to let our actions speak louder.” The contrast serves only to make the rivalry more compelling. The brash Jets versus the buttoned-down Pats. It creates high drama and great television, and with Ravens-Steelers on Saturday and Jets-Pats on Sunday, the folks at CBS have to be downright giddy for the ratings points to come. The Pats make a habit out of taking veteran players out behind the garden shed and putting a bullet in their heads before they get that last payday. On the other hand, while we're name dropping, I talked to a highly respected NFL reporter last year who told that Woody is generally regarded as a circus clown in owner's circles. But there's nothing worse than spending a small fortune to go to an away game and hearing S and N bombs dropped repetitively with nobody around you even blinking an eye. Say what you want about Jet fans. We may objectify women and whatnot, but at least you don't have to hear that crap at a football game. Not regularly at least. The only other experience in my life that was remotely similar was hearing a N bomb dropped at a Yankees/Sox game in the Bronx and security escorted that guy out within a minute tops. New England?
