The New York Jets have agreed to terms with linebacker and special-teams ace Lance Laury, according to his agent, David Canter.

The former Seattle Seahawks special-teams captain visited the Jets over the past two days.

Laury, 28, was signed by the Seahawks in 2006 as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina.

The 6-foot-2, 237-pound special-teams standout recorded 21 tackles last season and forced one fumble while playing in every game.

For his career, Laury has registered 64 tackles and two forced fumbles.

Good signing. We lost a few ST players this offseason and he's a big plus plugging in those holes.

Glad to hear it. In the past year the Jets lost Trusnick, Carroll, Wright and Murrell from their special teams coverage. They needed to start addressing this and not keep counting on guys like Woodhead to play ST.

Agreed, it's never a good plan to have a 170 lb guy trying to tackle someone running a 4.3 at 210 pounds, and try to run through blockers weighing 240-270 lbs

I just love the way that T and Rex go about their business of making our team stronger. They are plugging holes before the draft. That should allow them to take BAP. I do believe that we are in good hands.

It's what "the accountant" does best. MT addresses the needs of the team and with Wright and Murrell gone this was a big one.

Sounds like it's an excellent pickup for us. Parcells always said ST was 1/3 of the game.

Absolutely, and they still have a ways to go. They'll need to weigh players' special teams abilities in the later rounds of the draft and in UDFA. Of course, the Jets could use the depth at CB, S, WR, LB, and RB, so they should be able to find some willing and able bodies.
