NFL Career
As a Jet
Van Dyke was picked with the 31st pick of the 1996 Draft, the first pick of the second round. To say he was a non-entity would be well, true. He caught 17 passes as a rookie, then just eight over the following two seasons. He lost a fumble in the AFC championship game at Denver in January that sealed his fate with the Jets. He asked to be traded after the season and coach Bill Parcells complied. He ended up with 25 receptions for 211 yards, with 3 touchdowns.
After the Jets
In March 1999,, the Pittsburgh Steelers acquired Van Dyke from the Jets for a sixth-round draft pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, but released him in September. he was then picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles where he played for 2 years, and caught one, solitary, single pass. He was picked up by the Oakland Raiders but never played for them.
Post NFL Career
Van Dyke now runs a gym in Sacramento.
