Leon Hess raises his stake in the Jets to 75% after buying Townsend B. Martin's 25% interest.

Jets start 0-3, but only lose 2 more games that season.

In a 26-7 win over the Giants, the Jets defense records 9 sacks. The Giants only score comes on a fumbled punt snap.

With a 28-3 win over Green Bay, the Jets finish with a 10-5-1 record, securing their first playoff berth since 1969. 9 more sacks helped the team finish with a total of 66 for the season. Joe Klecko and Mark Gastineau, leaders of the New York Sack Exchange finish 1-2 in the NFL with 20 1/2 and 20 sacks respectively.

After falling behind 24-0 to Buffalo in the Wild Card game, the Jets fight back to 31-27 down. However it ends when Bill Simpson intercepts a pass on the Bills' 2 yard line with less than 10 seconds left.
