As a Jet
Faaola was taken by the Jets with the 24th pick of the 9th round (245th overall) of the 1986 NFL Draft. In his first season with the Jets, Faaola was released at the final cut, but was re-signed and appeared in twelve games, primarily as a blocker on special teams. Faaola missed a couple of games in 1987 owing to the players strike, but had his best season as a Jet, being used in short yardage situations, in addition to excellent blocking, he scored two touchdowns. In 1988 he appeared in every game on special teams, and was second on the squad with 30 coverage tackles, but had only one rush, for thirteen yards. Faaola only appeared in the first two games of the 1989 season before being waived.
After the Jets
Faaola went to Miami where he played 5 games before being released in December. After Miami, he wound up in Cleveland before being cut just before the start of the 1990 season. Faaola then had a spell with the London Monarchs.
Faaola dated future Miss America Carolyn Sapp before she became Miss Hawaii. Records indicate she filed a police report against him and obtained a restraining order in October of 1990, and made a tv movie about it.
