Chester McGlockton was a defensive tackle for the New York Jets for the 2003 season.

Background and college

Born September 16, 1969 in Whiteville, North Carolina, McGlockton went to Clemson.

NFL Career

Before the Jets

McGlockton was drafted by the Los Angeles Raiders in the 1st round (16th overall) of the 1992 NFL Draft. He played six seasons with the Raiders, earning all four of his Pro Bowl appearances with them. In 1998, McGlockton signed with Kansas City, where he spent three seasons, following this with a two-year spell in Denver. In his final season with the Broncos, he started 15 games and led the defensive line with 63 tackles and had 2.5 sacks, but was released for financial reasons.

As a Jet

After starter Josh Evans was suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating its substance-abuse policy for a third time, the Jets panicked. His projected replacement, first-round pick Dewayne Robertson was still unsigned, so the Jets needed someone fat, sorry, fast. They went for McGlockton. Who apparently hadn't done any exercise apart from lifting food to his mouth for the previous few months. At the time GM Terry Bradway nor coach Herman Edwards would say how much McGlockton weighs, saying only that he is a "big man."

McGlockton's playing weight was 334 pounds, he allegedly showed up weighing well in excess of 380 pounds, and asking when Herm's next BBQ was scheduled for. In his single season with the Jets, McGlockton appeared in 15 games with one sack. McGlockton's Jets career was probably best known for his snoring interrupting an interview with Wayne Chrebet in the lockeroom after a game.

After the NFL

At the start of 2009, McGlockton is an intern coach with the University of Tennessee football team. He is a co-owner of D1 Sports Training in Greenville, SC, and runs Fatburger restaurants. Kinda suitable, that last one.
