A New York Jets tradition is the naming of “King Ugly”.  It is not the most flattering of awards but football is a tough sport.  Today the Jets selected Brian Jackson.

JetsTwit.com has all the info here and the corresponding tweets about it.  You can read the whole story here.

The New York Jets broke training camp in Cortland NY on Thursday but before they left they had their traditional rookie show as well as crowning “King Ugly”, the winner of the ugliest player award.

The usual Jets players were tweeting pictures of the show, but I found a new twitter account for a Jets player, Jamaal Westerman [@JWesterman55].  It’s often difficult to validate if the player is the true person or if they are an impostor.  Looking at Jamaal’s stream and seeing the pictures posted from the account, it is no doubt the linebacker.

The Jets are finished in Cortland for the year.  On Saturday August 21 they will take on the Panthers in Carolina.  It is an 8pm gave that will be televised on CBS and on ESPN 1050 AM Radio. Then next week the Jets will practice in Florham Park on Monday and Tuesday (8/23, 8/24).  Wednesday they will be at Hofstra and on Friday August 27th they take on the Redskins at home.

JetNation.com will have some camp reports this week.  Stay tuned Jets fans, the season is right around the corner.

I started JetNation in 2005 and have been a New York Jets season ticket holder since graduating from high school. My dream is to see the New York Jets win the Super Bowl. Until then, I will be right here on JetNation writing, dreaming and talking NY Jets football.
