Put Up Or Shut Up Time For The New York Jets

Heading into the 2011 season the New York Jets told anyone that was willing to listen about their ability to be Super Bowl contenders.  Gang Green talked about continuing to build off their AFC Championship game appearance, and taking their game to the next level.  Well after eight weeks of the season the Jets stand at 4-3, which is good enough to be in the playoff hunt.

Now, following a bye week, the Jets must put their money with their mouth is as Gang Green will be playing some of the best teams in the NFL over the next 9 weeks.  If the New York Jets truly want to make a legitimate run at the playoffs, and a Super Bowl, they must take care of business against teams like the Bills (2), Patriots, Chiefs, Eagles, and New York Giants.  If the Jets come up short against the NFL’s best, their Super Bowl dreams will quickly become a distant memory.

On offense the Jets need to find their identity, which should include a power running game and a diversified passing attack that can spread the field.  Defensively Gang Green must improve against the run, which will allow them to get more pressure in the passing game.

The formula for the Jets’ success is obvious, and the blueprint is in place.  It is time for the New York Jets, to a man, to put their best foot forward and show the rest of the National Football League what this team is made of.  It is truly put up or shut up time for Gang Green.
