Jets ink Former Pittsburgh Cornerback Curtis Brown

The New York Jets today announced the signing of former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Curtis Brown.  Selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft out of the University of Texas, Brown spent three seasons with the Steelers but was placed on IR just seven games into his third season with a torn ACL.

Out of football in 2014, Brown’s decision to sign with the Jets could be a wise one as the team has plenty of openings at the position heading into the off-season.

Sportingnews.com offered the following analysis of Brown as the 2011 draft approached:

Brown graded out very well at the Combine, and his stock appears to be moving up. He looked great in pass coverage drills in Indianapolis, and NFL teams like his height, which gives him a chance to match up against taller receivers. With improvement in his footwork, Brown should develop into a solid starter.

In 34 career games, the 6’/185 lb Brown recorded 10 tackles, 2 passes defended and a forced fumble.
