Jets Sign Wide Receiver Chandler Worthy to Futures Contract

By Glenn Naughton

The New York Jets today announced the signing of wide receiver Chandler Worthy to a futures contract, making him the 15th such player over the course of the past several days.

A product of Troy University, Worthy spent some time with the Houston Texans before being cut loose after posting 3 receptions for 14 yards.

With Gang Green, Worthy will likely be given the opportunity to contribute as a return man where he flourished in college.  In four seasons at Troy, the speedy Worthy who reportedly ran a sub 4.4 at his pro day, amassed 81 returns for 1,919 yards (23.7 yards per return) and 2 touchdowns.

During his collegiate career as a pass catcher, the 5′ 9” Worthy posted 137 receptions for 1767 yards and 11 scores.
