Bowles: I Don’t Know if Fitzpatrick Will Start on Sunday

Ryan Fitzpatrick had an MRI on Monday and he is dealing with a sprained knee. Todd Bowles was asked if Fitzpatrick would start on Sunday.

I don’t know. I have to see him run around a little bit on Wednesday and Thursday first.

He has a sprained knee. He’s probably day-to-day. We’ll know more as the week progresses.

Bowles confirmed that if Fitz can’t go Bryce Petty would get the start.

If he misses a significant amount of time, then Bryce will play. He’ll have to practice some on Friday, at least, and have him get an understanding of the game plan and we’ll make a decision going forward.

One consideration when it comes to Bryce Petty is it would be much less pressure if he received his first start at home (1pm game) against the Rams. If he were to start the following game, he would have the bye week to prepare, but he would have to face the Patriots in front of a Sunday night football national audience.

Tell us what you think about the NY Jets QB situation.
