Jets Claim D-Lineman Mike Pennel

By Glenn Naughton

With the 2016 NFL season officially behind us, it’s time for teams to get back to the business of assembling their rosters for the 2017/2018 season, and the Jets have made their first move.

NFL insider Field Yates reports that Gang Green has claimed former Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Mike Pennel off of waivers.

Listed at 6′ 4” 332 pounds during his showing at the NFL combine just a few seasons ago, Pennel’s reported weight ranges from the 330’s and all the way up to 350, depending on what source you’re using.

The Colorado State-Pueblo product has appeared in 37 career contests (5 starts), picking up 29 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and a pass defended.

Pennel has battled suspensions in both college and the NFL.  He left Arizona State University following multiple suspensions in 2013, and again last season for the first and last four games of the season.
