Jets Looking to Retain LBer Josh Martin

By Glenn Naughton

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York is reporting that the Jets are making an effort to retain linebacker and special teams ace Josh Martin, who is set to become a free agent.

Despite their efforts, it appears Martin will test the open market.

The team to watch here is the New England Patriots as Bill Belichick had high praise for Martin leading up to a meeting between the two clubs in 2016, saying “In the kicking game [Josh] Martin is still the guy to stop. I mean, he’s one of the top players in the league. He’s done a great job for them.”

Whether or not Martin will be top guy for the Jets in 2017 remains to be seen.
