Mehta: Jets cut Cornerback Lamar Jackson

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is reporting that the Jets have cut rookie undrafted free agent Lamar Jackson.

Jackson was viewed by some as a day 3 pick but went unchosen before signing on with the Jets.  He made little noise during training camp so his release comes as little surprise.  Given their lack of depth at the position, the Jets could always look to add Jackson to their practice squad.

As a result of Covid-19 restrictions, teams can carry up to 16 players on their practice squad and one would imagine Jackson is a candidate for one of those spots.
