Becton Re-Injures Surgically Repaired Knee; Saleh Says Knee is “Stable”, MRI Pending

One of the Jets biggest training camp nightmares came true at Florham Park today.  Starting tackle Mekhi Becton fell to the turf and clutched his surgically repaired knee before limping off the field.

Head coach Robert Saleh said after practice that the knee was “stable” and he’d hoped it wouldn’t be serious as the team awaits an MRI.

Jets fans are of course hoping to avoid a repeat of last season when Becton missed the entire season after it was reported he would miss 4-6 weeks.

With the injury to Becton, the Jets are sure to ramp up their efforts to add veteran offensive tackle Duane Brown.  The Jets hosted Brown during their Green and White scrimmage a couple of days ago.  Jets brass at all levels reportedly met with Brown during the practice, from GM Joe Douglas, Saleh, and Rex Hogan along with owner Woody Johnson.  If the Jets hadn’t offered Brown what he wanted a few days ago, they might have to now.
