Some Impressive Names on Jets List of Undrafted Free Agents

Every now and then we see announcements of teams coming to terms with undrafted free agents only to have the agreement fall through and the player go elsewhere.  So it’s always important to remember things can change, but here is the current list of players the New York Jets have added as compiled through various sources.

WR Jason Brownlee, Southern Miss: Brownlee is a player who appears to have a knack for making big plays and shows the ability to make some jaw-dropping catches.  We first spotted him in the middle of the 2022 season and thought he would be a player worth keeping an eye on come draft time.  As it turns out, he would go undrafted but land with the Jets.

S Trey Dean, Florida: A poor 40 time at the combine likely hurt Dean’s stock but going back to last year he was getting buzz as a mid-round pick.  Dean had a strong week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile and picked up the game-clinching interception late in the fourth quarter.  Given their lack of depth at the safety position, you have to believe Dean has a shot to stick.

LB Claudin Cherelus, Alcorn State: The 6′ 1” 226 lb Nevada native is a speedy linebacker who ran a 4.54 at his pro day with a vertical jump of 38”.  Cherelus had 54 tackles and 4.5 sacks last season for the Braves.  As is often the case with Jets project linebackers, Cherelus previously played safety.

LB Caleb Johnson, Miami: A former UCLA Bruin who transferred to Miami, Johnson had 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Hurricanes last season.

DL Deslin Alexandre, Pittsburgh: One of many talented players in Pittsburgh’s front seven, we like Alexandre’s chances to stick with the Jets given his ability to provide quality play against the run and the pass.

We’ll provide more updates as additional names come in.
