Jets use Mr. Irrelevant Pick on Alabama DB Jaylen Key

Using their own last pick and the final selection of the 2024 NFL draft, the Jets selected Alabama safety Jaylen Key.

A versatile defensive back who can be used as a deep safety or in man coverage against backs and tight ends, Key will join last year’s draft choice Jarrick Bernard-Converse as a pair of developmental DB’s who could pay dividends in the long term.

A walk on at Alabama, Key earned a starting role for Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide and racked up sixty tackles and an interception.  With the University of Alabama Birmingham one year before, Key picked off three passes.
