Jets add Former Giant Korie Black to Practice Squad

The Jets made another move to add to their practice squad in signing former Giants draft pick, cornerback Korie Black.  A seventh-round draft choice for Big Blue this past season, Black was let go and now lands with the Jets.

The Oklahoma State product played in 61 collegiate contests, and logged a career high 3 interceptions last season.

Here’s what the folks at NFL.com had to say about Black in his pre-draft scouting report overview.

“Three-year starting cornerback with good size and great speed. Black played in all coverage schemes but needs more polish in press and off-man. He’s not bad at matching route breaks and releases, and he can be smothering at the catch point when his route anticipation is on. He plays with eye balance and readiness from zone but needs to trust his instincts. His difficulty finding and playing the football with his back to the quarterback is an issue, though. Black appears well worth a Day 3 pick for his traits and tape flashes alone.”

Korie Black is the latest in a trio of moves made by the Jets on the practice squad as they also brought back wide receiver Tyler Johnson and guard Marquis Hayes shortly after being let go.
