NFL clubs are required to get down to 53 players by 6pm tomorrow and the Jets started by cutting ties with quarterback Bailey Zappe first, and now defensive tackle Mazi Smith. Be sure to follow us for updates as the cuts come in.
Zappe was an offseason addition who did not perform well this preseason while Smith was added in the deal that sent Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys.
Since coming over to the Jets, Smith has been a non-factor when given a chance to get on the field, which was also the issue in Dallas.

*In his tweet regarding the Clark move, Adam Schefter says that the Jets plan is to bring Clark back on the practice squad if he were to clear waivers.

DE Nate Lynn (per Connor Hughes)
Having picked up 3 sacks in 2 games after joining the Jets mid-camp, expect Lynn to go to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed.
