Report: Jets Claim Kicker and Linebacker off Waivers

NFL insider Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Jets have made a pair of waiver wire claims.   The Jets had second priority behind the Raiders and used it to fill a pair of needs.

Blake Grupe, a kicker who was let go by the Colts after finishing last season on perfect run in going 11-for-11 after being cut by the Saints.  He’ll take over the kicking duties for Jason Sanders who has been underwhelming up to now.  Missing an extra point and coming up well short on a 54-yard FG attempt sealed his fate.

In Wallace, the Jets get some linebacker depth in a player who started twelve games last season, picking up 61 tackles and a pair of sacks.  The Kentucky product has managed to log 125 tackles and 3 sacks in 20 starts over two pro seasons.
