Jets Week 14 Inactive List vs Texans; Mounting OL injuries for New York

As two former 2nd overall picks, QBs Zach Wilson and CJ Stroud, set to face off in Week 14, an unsettling feeling continues to linger around the 4-8 New York Jets. Will the coaching staff be given another year with a healthy Aaron Rodgers? Or will they look to rebuild their staff in the off-season? Do fans cheer for wins with no playoff future in sight? Or is a loss and better draft position the more beneficial outcome again this December? As the losses and major injuries continue to pile up, it’s clear that something has to change at One Jets Drive.

Offensively, the Jets have lost yet another offensive lineman to injury, with Wes Schweitzer heading to Injured Reserve for the second time this season. He will likely miss the remainder of the season, meaning the right guard spot will have to be occupied by a combination of Chris Glaser, Jake Hanson or Xavier Newman. Not a great look for OL coach Keith Carter, who has a documented history of wearing his players out in practice during his time with the Tennessee Titans. Wide receiver Jason Brownlee is also out for today’s game with an ankle injury. Running back Breece Hall, who was listed as questionable this week with an ankle injury of his own, is expected to play. Carter Warren, who has started ganes at right tackle this season, is out with a hip injury. Zach Wilson, who is now starting again under center, will be backed up by Trevor Siemian, with newcomer Brett Rypien as the emergency 3rd quarterback.

On the defensive side of the ball, DL John Franklin-Myers (ankle) was listed as questionable but will play, despite the team elevating DE Jalyn Holmes from the practice squad. DE Carl Lawson is a healthy scratch, as well as CB Bryce Hall. Rookie linebacker Zaire Barnes is also inactive. Here is the full list of inactive players for this week’s game:

  • WR Jason Brownlee
  • OT Carter Warren
  • OL Austin Deculus
  • LB Zaire Barnes
  • DE Carl Lawson
  • CB Bryce Hall
  • QB Brett Rypien (emergency QB)
