Jets Trade Back Into the 1st Round; Draft Omar Cooper Jr.

The New York Jets were not finished in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. After already making two selections earlier in the night, the Jets made a move back into Round 1 by trading with the San Francisco 49ers for the No. 30 overall pick. With that selection, the Jets drafted Omar Cooper Jr.

, adding another receiver to the offense and giving the team a third first-round pick.

Cooper joins a Jets wide receiver room that includes Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, Isaiah Williams, and Arian Smith. The addition gives the Jets another young option at the position as offseason work continues.

Cooper played collegiately at Indiana Hoosiers, where he developed into one of the top receiving prospects in this draft class. His selection gives the Jets another player to add to the competition heading into training camp.

The Jets were aggressive throughout the first round, and moving back into the round to add a wide receiver signals the continued focus on adding offensive talent.

Here is his draft bio as listed by NFL.com:

  • Name: Omar Cooper Jr.
  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • College: Indiana
  • Height: 6’1″
  • Weight: 201 lbs
  • Class: Senior
  • Hometown: Lehigh Acres, Florida
  • Notable Traits: Physical receiver with size, ball skills, and vertical-play ability

With three first-round picks now in place, attention turns to how Omar Cooper Jr fits into the Jets offense as preparations begin for the 2026 season.

The Jets recent draft pick, Omar Cooper Jr, is a topic in our forums.
