Jets Draft D’Angelo Ponds With Third-Round Pick in 2026 NFL Draft

The New York Jets continued to add to their defense by selecting D’Angelo Ponds with their third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Ponds arrives from Indiana Hoosiers after building a strong reputation as one of the more productive defensive backs in this year’s class. Known for his quickness, instincts, and playmaking ability, Ponds gives the Jets another young option in the secondary.

The Jets entered the draft looking to add talent across the roster, and Ponds now joins a defensive back group that continues to add competition heading into the 2026 season. His college production and versatility made him a notable name on Day 2 of the draft.

At Indiana, Ponds was active around the football and consistently produced in coverage. He also drew attention during the pre-draft process with his athletic testing numbers, including a 43.5-inch vertical jump.

The Jets used their earlier selections on edge rusher David Bailey, tight end Kenyon Sadiq, and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. before adding Ponds on Day 2.

Here is his draft bio as listed by NFL.com:

  • Name: D’Angelo Ponds
  • Position: Cornerback
  • College: Indiana
  • Height: 5’9″
  • Weight: 182 lbs
  • Class: Junior
  • Hometown: Miami, Florida
  • 2025 Stats: 61 tackles, 2 interceptions, 11 passes defended
  • Notable Traits: Quick feet, ball skills, competitive coverage defender

Ponds, who has been called Aaron Glenn like, dropped to the second round because of his size. Otherwise, most draft experts agree, he would have been selected higher.
