gg
Hmmm.. Orlovsky or Leinart? OY! http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2010/11/texans-qb-matt-schaub-hospitalized-after-knee-ailment/1 Texans QB Matt Schaub hospitalized after knee ailment 03:33 PM Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was hospitalized on Tuesday night due to a bursa sac ailment in his knee. Schaub remained in the hospital into Wednesday, when he was excused from the team's practice. "(He) is doing well, and I expect him to get out this afternoon," coach Gary Kubiak said, via HoustonTexans.com. "He should be here tomorrow, so everything should be OK." Kubiak said that Schaub did not have surgery and that the team does not know how the ailment originated. "I actually met with Matt yesterday morning for about an hour in the morning, just talking about things, and he was doing fine," Kubiak said. "He went home with his wife and had some problems and called us. We sent him to the doctor, and then that's where it went from there. "We put him in the hospital to treat it basically and get some rest to get off of it. Thought he would be here this morning, made a decision this morning to let him stay there all day. Like I said, (he) should be getting out here at some point and be able to get back out here tomorrow." Schaub's status for Sunday's game against the New York Jets is not yet known. Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning had an infected bursa sac removed from his knee in July 2008. The operation kept him out of action for most of the preseason, though he returned in early September to start the season.

SMC
The Texans have the 2nd worse defense in the NFL (thanks to Vick causing the Redskins to have the worst). The Texans would be smart to fire Kubiak and hire Rob Ryan as HC to fix that defense. He can do the Rex role and concentrate on the defense and let the OC concentrate on the offense. As to the OP, thanks GG. I do think Shaub will start, though. The issue will be mobility and Shaub is known as a bailer.

John Fox...see what he did with motivated Peppers in Carolina...then factor in that Mario Williams has been motivated since joining this league. Plus, he's more of a true 4-3 coach and the Texans are a team with alot of true 4-3 talent...their best two players are prototypes in a 4-3 (Williams and Cushing). Not sure about recycling coaches, but Fox really isn't a bad one and he deserves better than what he's gotten from Carolina the past few years. slats
The latest is really more nothing: Matt Schaub scheduled to test bursitis By Paul Kuharsky It’s a big day for Matt Schaub. He didn’t practice Wednesday after being hospitalized for a bursa sac issue in his right knee, but coach Gary Kubiak said Schaub should be on the field for practice today and all indications are he's expected to play Sunday. The Texans certainly need Schaub on the field to face the Jets this week, but we may not know his status until game time. A hospital stay suggests doctors were aggressively fighting an infection with IV antibiotics. If that doesn’t work, things could get more complicated. We’ve heard a lot about the improvements Dan Orlovsky has made in his second season with the Texans. But as Houston tries to pull to 5-5, it certainly doesn’t want to have to rely on Orlovsky proving he’s better while playing against a complex, blitz-happy defense. Matt Leinart’s been the No. 3 all year. Stay tuned for a Schaub update this afternoon.

But I don't think the Ryan brothers are square pegs in round holes kinda guys. They coach to the talent. Rob would see 4-3 talent and keep them a 4-3 team. Both Rex and Rob coached 4-3 teams early on (the Ravens were 4-3 when Rex was Dline coach and the Pats were 4-3 early when Rob was there before they made the Warren/Wilfork tandem). Also, IIRC, Rob used 4-3 in Oakland for a time. That said, Fox and Rob would be good candidates for the Texans. They definitely need a defensive minded HC. Integrity28
I don't see how he could play and be effective so soon after this procedure. Its just a bursa sack.
