LT To Visit Jets Today

The New York Jets have scheduled a visit with free agent running back LaDainian Tomlinson.  The former San Diego Chargers running back who is 30 years old has definitely lost a step, or three.  This league is about depth and that is why the NY Jets are looking at LT.  They let Thomas Jones go but they are set with Shonn Greene and Leon Washington is scheduled to return from his broken leg.  LT would be the 3rd running back.

With low expectations and LT not required to carry a large work load this could be a very good signing.  He can stay fresh and could prove to be a nice weapon out of the back field especially on screen passes.  His yard per carry average the past two season has not been impressive (3.8 in 2008 and 3.3 2009 in 2009).  Both years he had over 200 carries.  That wouldn’t be the case with the Jets and he would be running behind the best offensive line in football.

We will update you on the visit later in the day, for more information check out the LT thread in the New York Jets message board.
