Todd Bowles spoke to the media after the Jets workout today and gave some updates. He was asked what stood out so far, “Just good effort right now. Good effort. Guys learning the system, learning how to play with each other again. So still getting some kinks out on both sides of the ball. Special teams wise, getting used to Coach Boyer, but the effort is good and the comradery is coming together. So it’s been good.”

As we mentioned yesterday Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall are back which is good news. Coach Bowles said they both had valid reasons to miss the voluntary workouts last week. He doesn’t believe they missed to protest the Ryan Fitzpatrick situation.

Just nice to get them back in general. Again, I knew they were gone last week and I knew they’d be gone last week. But just to have them back and get everybody back on the same page is important too.

Without a new contract in place, Ryan Fitzpatrick obviously can’t practice with the team. Yet his name comes up often.

When I got here last year I learned that this is New York City, and if we wasn’t talking about Fitz we’d probably be talking about Mo. If we wasn’t talking about Mo, we’d be talking about Sheldon (Richardson). If we wasn’t talking about Sheldon, we’d be talking about (Matt) Forte and (Chris) Ivory or D’brickashaw (Ferguson) and Clady or it would be something I would be talking about. So I’ve resigned to that fact. This just happens to be the here and now.

This early in the year teams are going to be very cautious with injured players. Here are some injury updates.

Ryan Clady

Yeah it’s good to see him. He’s been working out with the team but to get him a couple reps, athletically, to get him used to what we’re trying to do at full speed again has been good to see.

He’s a little rusty. But he hasn’t played in a while, so.

Nick Mangold

Well we’re still bringing him along slow too. Obviously he practice somedays, somedays he don’t. Between him and Ryan (Clady) we’re just trying to be careful for training camp.

On if Mangold has an injury…

No, he’s fine.

Darrelle Revis

No he’s working out right now. He’s running, he’s doing everything he’s supposed to be doing and doing wrist exercise and he’ll be ready when he’s ready.

On who is further along in rehab, Khiry Robinson or Zac Stacy…

I think they’re both the same. Neither of thems practicing or running full speed yet so you kind of wait and see which one steps on the field first. But right now they both look the same to me.
