Blessan Practices, Gase is Impressed & Mosley Says He Will Play on MNF

The Jets received some good news this week as 6th round draft Blessuan Austin was able to practice for the first time. He was a risky draft pick from Rutgers because of his injury history. Adam Gase was impressed with what he saw from Austin in practice.

Austin has been limited to just five games over the past two seasons and suffered a torn ACL.  Over the course of his first two collegiate  seasons, Austin played 20 games, intercepting two passes and picking up 17 passes defended.

There are some conflicting reports on center Ryan Kalil who was injured in practice on Thursday. If Kalil can’t go Jonotthan Harrison would get the start at center.

CJ Mosley told reporters that he will play on Monday night against the Patriots. His return to the field should make a very big impact. It looks like Chris Herndon won’t return until week 8 at the earliest. Kelvin Beachum hasn’t practiced this week and here are the injury updates that Adam Gase gave the media yesterday.

(Kelvin) Beachum and (Chris) Herndon will both be inside today rehabbing. (Trenton) Cannon will be outside, he’ll be doing rehab there. (Albert) McClellan is still in the (concussion) protocol. (Nate) Hairston and (Henry) Anderson will be in with strength and conditioning and if things go well today, we’re hoping they’re both at practice tomorrow. So, that’s really a lot better than what it’s been. C.J. (Mosley) will be doing individual today as well. So that’s a good first step for us.

On Chuma Edoga playing left tackle in college and if there’s any consideration to move Edoga to left tackle…

Yeah, we’re looking at everything right now.
