The Jacksonville Jaguars play in the AFC South, with their home games at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

In 1995, along with the Carolina Panthers, the Jacksonville Jaguars entered the NFL as the first expansion teams in almost 20 years. The Jaguars finished their inaugural season with a record of 4-12, breaking the record for most wins by an expansion team (3) set by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1968. In 1996, only their second season, they made it to the AFC Championship game, a feat they would repeat in 1999.

Their record against the Jets is 5-2 in favor of the Jaguars. The Jets lead the postseason series 1-0.
